Coursework

The Associate Level Orton-Gillingham coursework provides educators with a strong foundation in the principles and practices of structured literacy instruction. Designed for teachers, interventionists, and literacy professionals, the training combines in-depth study of the English language with practical, multisensory instructional techniques grounded in the Orton-Gillingham approach.

Participants develop an understanding of phonology, orthography, morphology, syllable types, diagnostic teaching, lesson planning, and prescriptive instruction for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Coursework emphasizes the connection between theory and practice, preparing trainees to deliver systematic, explicit, and individualized literacy instruction with confidence.

Through guided practicum experiences, observation, and mentorship, participants refine their instructional decision-making and build the skills necessary to support struggling readers and writers across a variety of educational settings.
